KFC announces its new KFConsole

A few days ago, on December 22, the fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), famous for its fried chicken, announced a new product born from the collaboration with Cooler Master, manufacturer of computer components. The device, which had already been presented last June, is the unusual KFConsole.

A partnership between a fast food restaurant chain that specializes in fried chicken and a company operating in the field of technology is quite original, but the result of this project is even more so. The new console will not only be able to entertain players during their game sessions, but will also keep food warm (maybe some crispy chicken wings).

“We are so pleased to finally give the fans exactly what they wanted; making the KFConsole a reality” said Mark Cheevers, PR & Social Media Lead at KFC UK & Ireland. “We all know the console war is vicious, but we are very confident in the KFConsole as our flagship entry. This machine is capable of running games at top-level specs, all on top of keeping your meal warm for you to enjoy during your gaming experience. What is not to like? If Sony or Microsoft want any tips on how to engineer a chicken chamber for their efforts next time, they would be welcome to get in touch”.

But let’s see some more features. KFConsole has the shape of a bucket of KFC wings and in addition it has a “chicken chamber” that keep warm the meal thanks to the heat produced by its components. Probably from a technical point of view it could raise some doubts about the game performance, but actually the device handles games with 240 fps and 4K display compatibility; it supports ray tracing, that is the rendering technology to improve video game graphics; in addition it has an Intel Core i9-9980HK processor; the GPU (graphics processing unit) is replaceable and the console has a lot of storage space. It can therefore be said that the innovative KFConsole has what it takes to compete with the bigger rivals such as PlayStation and Xbox.

Stephen James, the UK marketing manager at Cooler Master, said: “When we were approached by KFC Gaming to make the KFConsole, we jumped at the chance to get involved and enter the console war”. “The KFConsole has been custom built with the gamer at the front of mind. The last thing we want is anyone to go hungry while playing”, he added.

The new game console is not available yet, but it will surely be a great success among all video game lovers who spend hours and hours in front of computer screens. Entertainment and comfort in a single device, but will the idea of the KFConsole increase a sedentary lifestyle?
