Emirates Steel Arkan and Danieli Group reconfirm their partnership

Already known for its efficient and environmentally friendly steelmaking processes, Emirates Steel Arkan is about to take things a step further thanks to a new project involving Danieli Group. By installing an e-PGH (electrical Process Gas Heater) at the DRI plant, the Abu Dhabi company will be able to reduce its carbon footprint even more.

The partnership with Danieli is a testament to Emirates Steel Arkan’s commitment to innovation and technological excellence. By working together on this project, they hope to set new standards in the steel industry and contribute to the UAE’s vision of becoming a leading hub for the industrial sector. The pilot electrical process gas heater will be a key component in achieving these goals, helping the company reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and lower its overall carbon emissions. Not only it will benefit the environment, it will also save energy cost in the long run. Emirates Steel Arkan currently operates two low-emission minimills for quality long products (heavy sections, bars and wirerod) which are supplied by Danieli Group. They include Energiron DRI technology and Hytemp pneumatic charging for hot DRI up to 600 °C into the EAF.

Recently, during the Fifth Danieli Innovaction Meeting, Emirates Steel Arkan CEO Saeed Alghafri and Danieli Group CEO and CTO Rolando Paolone signed a memorandum of understanding. “This partnership marks a significant step forward in our commitment to innovation and technological excellence – said Saeed Alghafri – The MoU outlines a collaborative project to test a pilot electrical process gas heater at our Direct Reduction Plant #1. This groundbreaking technology aims to enhance efficiency and sustainability in our production processes, aligning with our mission to deliver high-quality steel products to our global customers. We are excited about the potential of this project to set new standards in the steel industry and contribute to the UAE’s vision of becoming a leading hub for the industrial sector”.
