Surface Laptop, better in autonomy and performance

The new Surface Laptop, now in its fourth edition, changes little in the aesthetic characteristics but renews the components of the series.

As regards the touch, it does not show many differences. The materials, the keyboard and the display make it almost indistinguishable from the previous model, with its characteristic shiny and clean design, with the Surface logo on the back of the body. Surface is always thin, strong and elegant, with pleasant-to-the-touch aluminum and ease of writing. The keyboard is backlit and is less accurate than the rest. The 13.5-inch version is also available with the typical Alcantara coating of Surface Laptops, and has a wide choice of colors, as opposed to the 15-inch version. Continuing on the design, almost all ports (USB Type-A, USB Type-C and 3.5mm jack) are located on the left side of the laptop. On the right side there is only the Surface Connect magnetic door. There is also an extra USB port included in the power supply.

The real revolution of the new Surface concerns the battery, which allows it to exceed even 12 hours of use (result of use tests with web browsing, streaming and video sessions and active Wi-Fi connection), surpassing most of the laptops present on the market, even in performance. The Ryzen 7 4980U proved to be very fast, unlike the solid-state storage unit. In addition, the entire work experience is managed by Windows 10.

The audio with Omnisonic speakers under the keyboard is also surprising, and is now compatible with the Dolby Atmos standard. The speakers of the Surface Laptop 4 are quite loud. A comfortable sound level is achieved by adjusting it between 60% and 70%. Moreover, the default sound really has an almost crystal-clear quality and does not force you to resort to third-party software to get a better performance. The 13.5-inch and 15-inch Surface Laptop models can be configured with 11th generation Intel processors or AMD processors.

The 15-inch version for the 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 4980U processor with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage costs a whopping 1,499 euros, while you have to spend 1,699 euros for 512 GB of disk. The price is therefore a bit high, even if the ecosystem with perfect integration of the Windows world is perhaps worth the expense.
