Samsung introduces new Galaxy Buds 2
During the event Unpacked 2021 organized by Samsung on 11 August, the Korean technology giant introduced a roundup of new products concerning the brand new range of smartphones and accessories. In addition to the innovative folding devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 tablet and the Z Flip 3 smartphone, there are its ultimate accessories, among which the Galaxy Buds 2. The latter will enrich Samsung’s range of true wireless earphones, which already include Buds Pro and Buds Live.
Starting from the design, Galaxy Buds 2 are stored inside a charging case similar to the previous ones but with a much lower weight. They are in fact presented as Samsung’s smallest earphones: only 5g per earphone and 41g for the case. In order to keep a very minimal design, no Bluetooth pairing button has been inserted, since it takes place automatically. For its latest earphones, Samsung decided to offer four color variants, that is white, graphite, olive and lavender. Also included are three sizes of earbud pads in order to adapt to evry ear and in the dedicated app there is even a test to help figure out which are the most suitable for every user.
The audio of the music reproduction reaches really satisfying levels. There is a woofer and a tweeter on each headset, while the supported codecs are Samsung Scalable, SBC and AAC. Call audio is also perfectly clear, with background noises cut out and the interlocutor’s voice also loud and clear.
The classic touch controls allow the user to start music and/or answer phone calls (two taps), go to the next song or pause (one tap), return to the previous song (three taps), or activate a customized function by exercising a prolonged pressure.
As for autonomy, the Galaxy Buds 2 hold up to 5 hours of music playback, 3.6 hours of call with the ANC always on, which reach respectively 20 and 13 hours with the case. In this sector the fast wireless charging has proved to be an edge over since it is possible to recover up to an hour of music playback with only 5 minutes of charging.
The current list price is 149 euros, but with a launch promotion it is possible to get a 50 euros discount and buy the Galaxy Buds 2 at the price of 99 euros.
