Motorola targets the Premium segment with signature and Razr Fold
Motorola is strengthening its presence in the premium smartphone market. Following the recent launch of the flagship Signature and with the upcoming release of the foldable Razr Fold, the company is clearly signaling a strategic shift toward high-end products. At the same time, the long-standing entry-level “E” series is being phased out, allowing Motorola to focus its resources and efforts on the G series and current and future flagship models.
After debuting at CES 2026 in Las Vegas during an exclusive Lenovo event held at the innovative “The Sphere” venue, the Signature and Razr Fold are now arriving in Barcelona. Motorola is presenting them to the European press at the Mobile World Congress, alongside other new devices, including the Edge 70 Fusion, Moto Buds 2 Plus, and Moto Buds 2.
Motorola holds a competitive advantage that is not yet fully visible but is expected to become significant soon: the availability of RAM for the development of new smartphones. With the approach of the so-called “Ramageddon”, a potential supply shortage caused by high demand for memory chips from the AI industry, the company can rely on reserves proactively secured by Lenovo, its parent group. This strategic stockpile is poised to become a decisive factor in the market.
The Razr Fold is the latest high-end foldable smartphone in the Razr series, now presented in a book-style form factor. Despite its lightweight design, the device is sturdy, measuring 4.55 millimeters thick when open and 9.89 millimeters when closed. Its folding mechanism relies on a stainless steel drop hinge, reinforced by an internal titanium plate beneath the display, engineered to efficiently manage the pressure generated during folding.
The Razr Fold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. To manage internal temperatures, Motorola has integrated a custom liquid cooling system. Power is supplied by a 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting wired charging at 80 W and wireless charging up to 50 W.
